Virtual Knowledge Factory

Overview

The Virtual Knowledge Factory (Virtuelle Wissensfabrik) was a project of the state Nordrhein-Westfalen (Germany), which started in May 1996 and ended in June 1999. The project was divided into three working groups (AGs): AG I (Man Machine Interaction), AG II (Structuring and Searching Information), and AG III (Communication).

The chair Computer Science VII at the University of Hagen was part of AG II and developed and implemented a natural language interface (NLI) to multimedia databases for the High Performance Query Server (HPQS).
