Lab Station 8: Practice and Experiments in Medical Informatics

LS8 serves to build up practical knowledge concerning software used in medical informatics. The student is to acquire skills in using different programs of this area.
   This lab station can be used in parallel to courses in medical informatics or in computer science seminars dealing with matters of medical informatics to support the transfer from theoretical knowledge to practical skills.

Tasks

Currently 3 teaching-modules are provided:

  1. The image processing tool JAMIP for getting acquainted with the basic technology
  2. Exercises in the field of signal processing based on the "Handbook of Medical Informatics"
  3. Testbed with three expert-systems from the D3-family supporting the diagnostics and therapy in specific medical areas.

Automatic correction components are provided for the exercises out of the "Handbook of Medical Informatics" and expert systems.

Link to other lab stations

This lab station provides an experimental surrounding for students of medical informatics. Therefore it is connected with lab stations LS3 and LS6, since they also include tasks with medical content.
